30 Day Challenge - Day 11

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate

I don't really hate but I have an extreme dislike for two things.  To all my friends with cats...I apologize.  To those of you who eat fish...I apologize.  Ewww....

30 Day Challenge - Day 10

Day 10 - A picture of someone you see yourself marrying in the future

Now, I'm not delusional or anything - I don't actually think I'm going to marry Josh Groban, but it doesn't hurt to dream, right?!  It's a bit of an odd question for a 30 day picture challenge, but whatever.  Who wouldn't want to look into those dreamy eyes everyday!

30 Day Challenge - Day 9

Day 9 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

What else can I say except that I have a pretty awesome mom.

I love my mom

30 Day Challenge - Day 8

Day 8 - A picture of something that makes you laugh

Well, how about a video to shake this 30 day challenge up a bit :)

This video makes me laugh every single time I watch.  Amy and I had gone for a walk with Deborah while we were in BC at camp.  She was hiding from us and then popped out of the long grass and promptly fell over.  I watch the video over and over, just to enjoy the complete shock that comes from her fall.  I miss this girl and how she made me laugh on a daily basis.  I also miss Amy and the way we laughed together too.  Enjoy!!

30 Day Challenge - Day 7

Day 7 - A picture that shows your true self

I tend to be a bit reserved.  It takes a while to get a good glimpse of what I'm really like.  This picture tells the story, I would say.  I'm sure my fellow chaperones felt they got too much of the "real" me :)

30 Day Challenge - Day 6

Day 6 - A picture of somewhere you've been

These directions prove to be harder to answer than I originally anticipated.  I've been a lot of place.  Even before I started touring with the ACC, I've had the privilege of doing a fair bit of travel, both with my family and as an adult.  I haven't been as many places as some, but I've certainly gone to my fair share of places.  If I had to pick a place that has been on my heart lately, I'd pick this one.

Cabin in Romania
Lately I've been missing my Romanian friends.  I'd give anything to be sitting on the swing visiting with Dora or Sammy or to spend time with Ingrid and Friedhelm, to walk the vineyards with the dogs at my side.  How I miss this place.

30 Day Challenge - Day 5

Day 5 - A picture of your favourite memory

It is hard to pick just one favourite memory.  I have so many.  Summer holidays with my family, years of church camp, great school memories, going to Quebec, going to Romania, the past year and a half is a great memory all of its own.  But, since I don't have pictures from the far away memories, I'll use a more recent one.

Being a bird girl
Being part of Seussical was an amazing experience.  It made me step out of my comfort zone and try something that I never thought I'd do.  I hope to do another musical again.  There have been several factors as to why I haven't, but maybe this year will be the year I get to do another one.  We'll see.

30 Day Challenge - Day 4

Day 4 - A picture of your day (really...a picture?...maybe a few)

1.  I stayed in this picture for as long as possible :)

2.  Then I sat here and played Solitaire for most of the morning.

3. Then I had lunch with Shannon before I ventured out into the -80000 weather to go to here.

4. To finish the day, I watched this movie with Katrina, Kaia, and Jocelyn.  I can't really describe it.  Kinda good, sorta weird and a little creepy.

Happy Family Day!!

30 Day Challenge - Day 3

Day 3 - A picture of the cast from your favourite show

I don't watch much TV, but I am a huge fan of the Big Bang Theory.  It is such a funny show. It is the only sitcom I actually watch every week.  They should feel blessed to have me watching :)

30 Day Challenge - Day 2

Day 2 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

Amber
Amber and I have been friends forever.  The first time she stayed at my house was the summer we were 9.  She came for a whole week.  That was a big deal in 1990!  After that, it was friendship for life.  I stayed at her house one weekend and we got to go see "Rhythm n News" even though we weren't old enough for Super Camp.  Many years at camp, we shared a room and always achieved the "Cleanest Cabin" award.  We're pretty amazing.  Anytime Amber and I would get together, we'd have hours of Tetris Wars, lots of laughter and plenty of heart-to-hearts.  We've been friends for over 20 years now.  That's pretty outstanding.  I am so grateful for Amber.  We've been through a lot together.  It's too late to get out of this friendship now!  We're stuck with each other for life.

30 Day Challenge - Day 1

*I saw this on facebook and thought I'd give it a try as a blog.  That means a lot of blogging between now and March 18!  Let's see if it can be done.*

Day 1 - A picture of yourself with 10 facts

At my gram's
  1. I'm 30.  When did I get this old?
  2. I think I want to move to Africa...
  3. I have 23 kids.  They aren't mine, but they're mine.  I love them.
  4. I spend too much time on my computer.
  5. I love teaching.
  6. I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew.  They are awesome.
  7. I have 1 sister.  She's awesome too.
  8. I've suddenly taken a liking to decorating and if I could redecorate my entire house, I would!
  9. I love Jesus.
  10. I led a tour for 16 months and survived.  Miracles do happen.

Missing you...

When you live with people almost 24-7 for 16 months, you really get used to going about your day in a certain way and you get used to having those people with you regardless of what you are doing.  I'm going through chaperone friend withdrawal.  I miss them a lot, in fact. It seems that everything I do, brings a memory of my friends from tour.  For instance, every single time I use my microwave (and I use it a lot, I'll admit it), I think of Mel.  In fact, I imagine her hiding in my bedroom as I microwave and yelling to ask if I'm done yet.  Every time I go shopping or start organizing, I think of Alesha.  Every time I play a game or lead rehearsals I think of Amy.  Every time I get a hug, I think of Chelsea.  When I need a hand or some advice, I wish Vic was here.  My sarcasm is lost without Amy and Tony.

Ah, life on the bus.  As hard as you were sometimes, I sure liked you.

I will seek...

*I found this in a box.  I don't remember why I wrote it, but as I read it, I knew it was as true now as it was when I wrote it.*

I will seek excellence, unity and creativity.

As a Christian:
  • I will seek to show Christ's love more through actions then through words.
  • I will seek to do God's will and not my own first and foremost
As a Teacher:
  • I will seek to create a space where students feel free to create, to express their opinions and to grow as individuals.
  • I will seek to encourage, correct and inspire in a way that will create both value and responsibility.
  • I will seek to impart knowledge and to demonstrate good work ethic.
  • I will seek to always be prepared and to be able to give my best to my students.
As a Friend:
  • I will seek to make time for the important people in my life and not let busyness overrule relationship.
  • I will seek to be a confidant, an encouragement and to know when to be serious and when to have fun.
  • I will seek to make "strangers" feel welcomed whether in my home, church or place of work and to speak words of life to them.
As a member of the Allan family:
  • I will seek to honour my family, to always show love and to be willing to sacrifice personal time for them.
  • I will seek to be a role model for my nieces and nephew and to love them unconditionally.
As a Musician:
  • I will seek to improve but to not lose my love for the amazing beauty that music provides.
  • I will seek to use my talents for God's glory and to not be afraid to share my gifts.
